Not much happening today. Madeline woke Crystal and I up this morning, awake sitting up in her crib, banging the back of her head against the side. It was past our normal wake up time and we were tired so we slept in as long as Madeline would let us. Knock on wood…She has been sleeping so well that we hate waking her up. This will change of course. We believe she is feeling better. Still some occasional rasping in her chest and her nose runs a little once or twice a day. She hasn’t been taking a bottle as often or as much of one as the orphanage said she was however it has only been a few days with us. When we go outside, it is so humid and hot, that I worry she is not taking enough fluids. This won’t be the last time I worry about her. She is playing on Crystal’s lap now. She enjoys sitting on Crystal’s lap and touching toys and water bottles. Different textures. She also enjoys typing on the computer with Crystal. With me she enjoys glaring at me with a look like she is hoping I was not here and would go away soon. This will change. We take naps well together.
Today, we took an early afternoon excursion to the Chen Clan Classical Learning Academy. It is one of the most attractive tourist sites in Guangzhou. Very ornate with intricate hand carved wood ceilings and pillars. It was very beautiful. The Chen Clan was very wealthy during the Ming dynasty so the extendef family from 72 provinces collected funds and built this place for their family to study for yearly government exams. Off to dinner. Cantonese we are thinking.
